Approximately a week later, an anonymous friend or neighbor
came over to assist in putting the backing board up. This installation of the backing board is
pretty critical, as it serves many functions.
The backing board is installed using a total of 5 x 12” long x 1” leg
aluminum angles on each side (10 total).
Each angle is screwed to the stud to either side of the brick fireplace
facing and two the vertical ‘end caps’ of the backing board. The backing board is also installed with a
2” gap between the brick face and the backing board. This will provide me a space to easily chase
cables and wires.
